KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, warded on Friday night for minor ulcer and gastritis, is in high spirits and making excellent recovery, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
“His spirit is high, especially after the recent Barisan Nasional by-election wins.
“He looked happy and cheerful,” he told reporters after attending the 4th Global Bio-Herbs Economic Forum here yesterday.
Liow, who visited Najib, said the Prime Minister developed ulcers after being diagnosed with chicken pox last week.
“He is recovering well at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital. He is still under observation,” he added.
Meanwhile, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said in a statement here that Najib’s chicken pox lesions were healing well and his symptoms of gastritis had been resolved.
“He is now on a normal diet,” he said.
Dr Mohd Ismail said the Prime Minister is expected to be discharged within the next few days.
He added that Najib thanked well-wishers who prayed for his speedy recovery.
